Proposal Ideas

For the past couple of weeks, there have been so many activities that went on. First, I had gotten married, then tried moving into our new place at the same time (which we are still moving in and getting things sorted out) as well as flying off on our honeymoon and straight back to work. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend getting married and trying to move into your new place at the same time!

One of the things which I really would like to thank both Alex and Grace was this amazing video which they helped me and Munz to put together as well as film, edit and set up and was shown during the wedding dinner icon smile Proposal Ideas

Now I can definitely help those of you out there if you want more and more “fun” proposal ideas and how this post ties back to the title of “Proposal Ideas”  :P

But in case you do find this amusing, here are some of the reasons why I decided surprise Mun Tzin this way.

  1. Marriage has already been a discussion point so doing anything overly romantic will definitely make her suspect
  2. If I bring her for a nice dinner she would suspect icon razz Proposal Ideas (goes to show how often I bring her for nice dinners)
  3. I knew if I did something photography related, she really wouldn’t suspect a thing (and I was right!)

Here are some funny things that happened during the real proposal,

  • Munz bought the flowers that I eventually gave to her, it was so funny when she was commenting about the flowers and she kept asking me why was I the one getting flowers.
  • She accidentally spilled some water on the wrapping which she spent 20 minutes trying to make the bouquet look presentable for my friend BK.
  • The restaurant I booked screwed up my booking hence we ended up at a totally different place. Lesson: Make sure you triple confirm your booking with the restaurant.

Anyway for the full story of my wedding, head on over here for Grace’s view of things icon smile Proposal Ideas

Wedding: Eric & Chew Yong

I recently shot Eric and Chew Yong’s wedding and usually most of the time when I shoot weddings, it would be under the Stories. My banner hence most of the images are posted there. This time, I thought I would also add them here on my blog. Here are some of my shots from the wedding.

Chi Wern & Chin Ling’s Wedding

It has been a while since I have blogged about weddings I’ve shot and I definitely have a lot of photos all stored up in my hard disk at home waiting to be posted online. I think I shall go with the thinking that it is always “better late than never“. Before I continue ranting about things which should have been, let me start the post up.

To be frank, it wasn’t really a wedding as both Chi Wern and Chin Ling got married in Singapore the week before but they had a vow renewal session here in Malaysia so that friends and family in Malaysia will not be missed out.

As I mentioned in the beginning, it was a renewal of vows, so the ceremony was a little different. I will let you see if you can spot the difference.

When you have friends helping you out as your emcees, you definitely have to expect them to play some games with you on stage.

Games like asking the groom to feel several hands and ask him to identify the bride’s hand.

The night ended with a blast and I definitely had loads of fun shooting their wedding. It was just totally awesome! The feeling was different because there were so many familiar faces and when you know the guests, it becomes a little more personal .

Langkawi – Day 1

* Apologies for the confusion, I am trying out a new desktop publishing tool and it seemed to have screwed up the entire post and I have lost everything! *

The one thing I really hate to do is to retype an entire blog post which I have spent quite a fair bit of time writing. It saddens me that a simple mistake or being totally oblivious to the new tool which I am trying out can cause about 30 minutes of work down the drain. Nevertheless, the post must go up! Let me try to recapture what I have written in my earlier post.

I wonder how many people out there get up on a Monday morning, feeling worn out and said to themselves,”Wow, its going to be a great week ahead!”. Most of the time I hear from my desk is that people are either feeling the Monday blues or they are updating their Facebook status about what a wonderful weekend they had recently. Personally, my weekend was the bomb!

Together with the WeddingStory team, we headed to a part of Malaysia I have not been in over 10 years, and that was the island, Langkawi. Feeling excited about Stuart & Amy’s wedding, I took the 8am flight to Langkawi on Friday and I can safely say is that, don’t fly so early in the morning. Why? Think about it, if your flight is at 8am, then you would probably need to be at the airport by 6.30am to check-in. Which means you have to leave your house at 5.30am by taxi. Hence you need to be up at 4 something in order to get ready.

And that was what happened and I have to thank Alex and Grace for hosting me and Mun Tzin the night before so that I didn’t have to take account the time needed to travel from my house to their place. Also I have to thank Mun Tzin for waking me up in the morning by rubbing her wet fingers against my face. That really didn’t give me a shock at all.

By the time we arrived in Langkawi, rented two cars, checked into the hotel, the first thing I did was sleep! Yes, sleep was the first thing in my mind and after a quick nap, whilst Alex and Mun Tzin went to pick Kee Sitt and Sharon up from the ferry dock, I felt hungry. A quick walk along the main road where our hotel was located, we found ourselves in a cosy restaurant ordering some dishes and eagerly waiting for our food to arrive

 Langkawi Day 1

Kee Sitt then decided to try out Nigel’s camera while we were waiting for our food to arrive.

 Langkawi Day 1

By the time the first dish arrived (fried rice in case you were wondering if this was some special Langkawi grown rice), we were all too hungry to take more photos of the rest of the food. Ok, I admitted that once I started eating, I didn’t stop until the food was gone!

 Langkawi Day 1

The one thing I remembered about Langkawi was that it was a duty free island, meaning that all alcohol, chocolates and cigarettes were very cheap. It was so dirt cheap that they even served my chinese tea in a beer mug.

 Langkawi Day 1

After lunch we decided to walk about and check out some of the stalls across the street from the restaurant. Apparently Alex and Nigel found a new toy, Langkawi Poken!

 Langkawi Day 1

Kee Sitt loved playing with his new toy so much so that he took loads of pictures and videos with it. Can’t wait to see all of them when he is done with it.

After lunch, the team got ready and drove about 45 minutes up north of the Island to the famed Andaman resort. There we were to shoot Stuart & Amy’s beach wedding. I will leave more details about the shoot in a separate post. icon smile Langkawi Day 1

Langkawi Day 1 007 Langkawi Day 1

This was the view from the bride’s room. Look how lovely the scenery is.

 Langkawi Day 1

And last but not least a view of the beach side where the ceremony is to take place. The decoration and the lovely sea breeze was just amazing, makes everything feel so romantic. The wedding lasted from 4pm all the way till past midnight and it was just so much fun!

I was totally wiped out by the time we got back to the hotel which means only one thing for me. I need more exercise!

Stay tuned for day 2 of the Langkawi trip.

ShootFest – The Slideshow

I am still so excited about how ShootFest turned out to be that I spent an entire night making this slideshow. Well I was a little tired from studying and I managed to complete my book already but the crunch time is here and I needed to release some steam so I started on my mini project. After making my previous slideshow here, I thought lets make another slideshow for ShootFest.

And here are the results.

For best results, press “play” and then followed by “pause“. Wait for the video to be fully buffered and then watch it icon smile ShootFest The Slideshow

Do let me know what you think of the slideshow by commenting in the comments section ok? At least I can get some feedback on my slideshow making skills.

Dennis & Say Wan’s Wedding

Yes, I finally delivered to them their photos and their slideshows. I got loads more to post process and I got loads more to process (even during the Chinese New Year holidays). I will be heading back to Malacca from Sunday till Wednesday. Since I know that I might be quite bored there, I have decided to bring back some photos to post process as well as capture some landscape shots by the beach. Wished that I had a tripod though icon razz Dennis & Say Wans Wedding

My apologies for the large photo size which doesn’t fit this blog template. Perhaps I should change the template but it would definitely require a lot more work which I don’t have that much time at the moment.

Have a great Chinese New Year everyone! For those of you driving back to your respective hometowns, do have a safe drive back.
