The return of Wednesday Clicks

Only to return on a Monday, I have decided to return my old trend of providing some interesting links as well as excerpts from other sources which either inspire me or give some sort of educational value.

First up for this week:

  • I’ve only started reading some inspirational blogs lately especially to gain some insights of what I can use in life as well as apply at my job which has been consuming a lot of my time lately. Just see when was my last posting and you will know why. Anyway, I thought that this article on “How to be good at something” is very relevant and useful to us all no matter which industry you might be in.
  • A good book review on the “The presentation secrets of Steve Job” can be found over at Duarte’s blog. In case you don’t know who Nancy Duarte is, she is the owner of the company that came out with Al Gore’s “The Inconvenient Truth”. I get plenty of corporate presentation tips from her although I still find it hard to apply some of the design principles into corporate slides.
  • In case you have been living in a nutshell, Louis Pang recently launched his new training portal called WedShooter. Check it out over here, sign up quick and get a discount for a year’s subscription as well as his World Tour DVD!
  • Scott Kelby has a recent posting on what every new Lightroom user should know. Check it out especially in particularly that you are new to Lightroom as well as trying to figure out what Lightroom is about.

Alright, Nick was right. At the mean time the only thing consistent is this weekly post on some links I think is interesting. Believe me, I want to post more but I am just so short for time, you wouldn’t believe how incredibly crazy things have gotten.   • Jasmine Star has started teaching photography workshops. So if you are in the US around the 10th of March, that is when her first workshop begins. Its a one day workshop at the cost of USD$750 per pax.
  • Our local wedding photographer, Anna-Rina, has combined her blog and her online portfolio following in the steps of her favourite photog. Check it out here. Her arms are more toned than most guys I know icon razz Wednesday Clicks
  • Apparently someone found out that a certain individual blared out that “one Malaysian Top Politician was involved in the murder of Altantuya, that Mongolian woman”. Check it out here.
  • Nikon has released the 1.01 firmware for the D700 and the 2.01 firmware for the D3.
  • Another lengthy open-letter about the proposed LABU airport.
  • Two of my favourite photographers from the US whom I check out their blog regularly, has published their top 100 engagement photos in 2008. Yes, top 100. That is totally awesome! Do check it out here.

Wednesday Clicks

Here are this week’s Wednesday Clicks with some interesting links to some various sites. Its the first Wednesday Clicks for 2009 so here is to a great year ahead with more interesting news and titbits from around.

  • For you pixel peepers, check out some stunning photos taken with the new Nikon D3x here from our neighbours up north. For one thing, I am extremely impressed with the quality of the photos. They just look amazing!
  • Another site to compare images between various cameras (Canon, Nikon, Sony and the list continues).
  • Find out more about this free software to shoot tethered with Nikon here.
  • An interesting article which highlights MCA and where they stand.
  • If you haven’t found out, YL Camera, that awesome camera store based at Pudu Plaza has launched their website. I wanted to announce this previously but their website wasn’t updated but now I see a whole slew of lenses available for purchase there.
  • Having a dual screen whilst working on photos/videos is awesome right? Now ever wondered if you could have a dual screen on-the-go? Well look no further, the Lenovo ThinkPad W700 might just be the solution for you. Check it out here.
  • Looking for a RSS aggregator? I recommend Google Reader.
  • Google’s Picasa is now available for Macs! Download it here.
  • Apple has released their new unibody 17″ Macbookpro at the MacWorld conference. Other new items include iWork 09 and iLife 09. Also iTunes now deliver DRM free tunes to you. In terms of its released, rumours were that the iPhone Nano might make its debut.

Christmas is almost upon us and I thought I would have missed posting this week’s Wednesday clicks as I am away on training and I have no access to the internet when I am on training. But I decided to stick with my schedule and still post this before heading out for dinner with my cell.

Weekly Wednesday Clicks

I have always pondered on a theme of a post that I can post on a weekly basis whether may it be a weekly photo or whether it may be a weekly joke or something. Well I have decided to start with a weekly “Wednesday Clicks”.

This post will mainly be for me to share with everyone some interesting links that might interest some of you here.

So lets begin for today!

  1. Reuters has an interesting image gallery here to further illustrate how much Venice is under water than it being the usual romantic place where every couple would love to travel to. You can also check out their photo blog here. (link courtesy of ShaolinTiger)
  2. Images of a new DSLR being unboxed can be found here. For certain reasons, I shall not name the DSLR (hehehe)
  3. Some interesting bit of musings from LKS thinking that the Dewan Rakyat practices double standards against opposition MPs.
  4. The new Nokia N97 gets a makeover and it is moving towards the success of Sony’s Xperia.
  5. Xiaxue tries her hand at photoshop and she is quite good at it!
