Congratulations to VIE Gallery

I was invited last weekend by both Edwin Tan and Nicholas Leong over to their new gallery located in Bangsar South. It was a fun event with plenty of other photographers about with food and even a photo booth!

Put photographers in front of the camera and you end up having loads of wacky pictures. Some just too wacky that it has to be censored. Or should I leak one or two up on this site.

I know I had way too much cake at the event but am a little sad that I missed the champagne popping session that you guys did after I left. At least I didn’t get splashed with champagne icon wink Congratulations to VIE Gallery

A Visit to the Batcave a.k.a Autodetailer

Being part of the WPPM does have its benefits. Though I am a little shy as I haven’t posted about photography in a while, this time I managed to join Patrick Low on one of his Photographer’s chill out sessions at Autodetailer. In case you may not be familiar, Autodetailer is located at Jaya One and it prides itself as Malaysia’s most advanced detailing studio.

I first met Darren when I attended the Nigel Barker’s workshop a while back. Am glad that he managed to recognize me when I arrived at his studio.

As I was at another event prior to this, by the time I arrived at the batcave, Darren was already giving the rest of the group a tour of his detailing studio. It is really really impressive and there has been countless of articles on the Star as well as car magazines which featured his studio.

It was a real pity that my gears were in for service at the time or else I would be happily taking photos of his studio but I was very impressed with his car studio setup as well as his post processing setup. I have never seen a Wacom tablet that is larger than a 24″ iMac in my life before!

After going through a tour of the detailing studio, I was utterly amazed! No wonder plenty of people send their cars to Darren to detail as well as restore. It’s just amazing to see the amount of detailed work they put into each and every car. I was literally blown away and amazed and I can say that his detailing studio is the only one that has an iMac and a uber large Wacom tablet icon razz A Visit to the Batcave a.k.a Autodetailer

Here are some of the images taken by Darren and displayed on his Facebook Page.

Mainly because that is Darren’s car and he has been working on his personal project which is to transform his Mito into a unique looking mini car which looks totally awesome. You can find out more about Project Mito at the blog or you can always check out their Facebook Page for latest updates. Do check out this Facebook Album set for a plethora of poisonous images.

I think I should do that as well for my Golf but most of the time, my Golf is pretty much dirty from all the rainy weather we have been having. It definitely needs a good wash!

Greetings from Bangladesh!

It’s currently day two now here at Bangladesh and although I really wanted to write a blog post whilst I was in the airport yesterday, the internet connection at LCCT was horrendous. Anyway its the same here in Bangladesh as well, I hardly get any internet connection so it will be brief posts and updates.

Anyhow, the experience here is a real eye opener! I have never seen so many mosquitoes before in my life. My first encounter with the swarm (yes, thats how many there were) was at the airport. I could literally feel them flying onto me and hitting me whilst I was walking about. Same goes for the place I was staying as well and my left hand alone had more than 10 bites. No worries, we bought (we meaning Andrew and I) a mosquito repellant as well as a diffuser to run whilst we are sleeping. The repellant was excellent, Mortein to the rescue! I sprayed the room earlier and I already see 13 dead mosquitoes lying on the floor.

So much for those bloodsuckers!

Anyhow, the shoot is gonna start soon so I better best prepare myself icon smile Greetings from Bangladesh!

What I have learned from a recent wedding shoot!

Not to stand too close to the bride and groom when they are about to pop the champaign!

Ok the image was a little blur as I think I sort of self consciously tried to move away.

Seriously, I could have sworn that he was aiming it at a totally different direction.

Well, at least I can tick this off my to-do wedding list.

Organized by Models Inc., this exclusive workshop gives you the opportunity to work with models one on one. If you are looking to expand your portfolio, experience, learn how to ’see’ the light, and network with other photographers, PLUS get an opportunity to go on live shoots after the training, this event is for you! If you are an aspiring model, this is also an event for you! I am excited to share my experiences with all of you during this workshop.

Day 1, learn how to make a good portrait even better by learning different lighting & posing techniques. You will be utilizing different lighting techniques from available light to off camera flash and also video light to create your portraits. From theory, we will move on to a practical on-location shoot as the photographers will have the opportunity to photograph the different models. Each photographer will be assigned to one model so you have maximum control, and the ability to build your own personal portfolio!

For models, an up and coming stylist will coach you on hair and make-up application and will be giving tips on how to spruce up and keep looking fresh even on a hot day out on set.

Day 2, learn about how to create a good workflow after your shoot. You will be learning some cool post processing skills using Lightroom and Photoshop. A panel of renowned photographers will be invited to review the images so that you can maximize your learning experience. After the review, one photographer will be chosen to go through an apprenticeship period with myself (T&C apply) – to learn from live shoots! Models will be given a professional portfolio worth RM 200 within two weeks of the end of the workshop, including a fashion show line up in October.

Limited to only 10 photographers and 10 models – you are guaranteed a personalized experience.

Nicholas and Sharon’s Pre-Wedding

I have known Nick for quite some time now ever since the Lowyat photography days and when he asked me to shoot his pre-wedding, I couldn’t say “no” to him. Here are some of the photos from the session. Boy, did I really have so much fun shooting the couple. Both Nick and Sharon were very sporting and they were a really funny couple to photograph. A huge thanks to Mun Tzin as well for helping me out.

Introducing the Stories Facebook Page

Now in case you do not know that if you scroll to my menu bar on my blog and select wedding photography, you get directed to http://www.stories.my. Why do you ask? That is because most of my wedding photography work is up on their site together with Grace’s and Johan’s work.

But of course that might confuse some people especially with the inquiries that comes through to me, I usually have to respond a little differently for wedding packages and requests. Anyhow, that isn’t the story today. The story today is the launch of the new Stories Facebook Page, yay!

stories Introducing the Stories Facebook Page

About half of the number of inquiries that we get originate from Facebook, so it only made sense to have a page where everyone can interact, discuss questions regarding wedding photography (or your gown, or deco even if you wanted to!). It also features ongoing promotions, and contests in the future.

Head on over here to find out more about the page icon smile Introducing the Stories Facebook Page

RedNinja.tv got Mojo? Camp

Yes I didn’t manage to squeeze in a blog post last week. Why? Mainly I was busy with work, late teleconferences as well as preparing with the RedNinja.tv gang for the got Mojo? seminar and camp over the weekend. Definitely had an amazing time with the participants and all of the great fun and sharing that we had. Totally sapped all of my energy from me until I got sick on Monday when I returned to work.

It was such an honour to have Wiki and Ilona over as the main speakers and I am very sure that the participants had an equally fantastic time as well. Just search for the #gotMojo on Twitter and you will see their responses icon smile RedNinja.tv got Mojo? Camp

Anyway, since a post should not have no images on it, I am going to post some shots which I took over the weekend.
