In the midst of searching and poking about with a new theme for the blog. Thanks to dictator Tan, he informed me that my old theme was sort of broken hence I do need to do a bit of poking about to see whats wrong. It the mean time, I am trying out this free theme for the moment. No time yet to make those minor tweaks. Will be back soon!

Movie Review: X-Men Origins (Wolverine)

I managed to catch this show last week and to be frank it was a fantastic show because not only was it action packed, I always have been a fan of the X-Men. Note that I don’t actually read much of the comics but coming from a movie fan (I never really liked how the shot the first 3 X-Men movies), this show really was a huge improvement.
The movie starts with how Logan was a boy and how he eventually ran away from home and the scenes move from him being part of the American Revolution, to world war 1 and world war 2 and eventually in Vietnam. The weird part about the beginning was that Logan started off with bone claws.

Anyway he was recruited by Stryker to join a team of other mutants where they went on missions around the world. Logan’s real story begins when Victor (a.k.a Sabretooth) went on a killing rampage during these missions which made Logan decide to quit and head into exile to live a peaceful life. When things start to go wrong and Stryker entering back into Logan’s life a few years later, Logan was then driven to avenge his lover’s death (killed by Sabretooth).
With revenge in his mind, Logan then decided to join the Weapon X program under Stryker and then received his adamantium skeleton and claws.
The movie was interesting to me because it also showed other heroes from the Marvel universe in the forms of Blob, Gambit, Wraith, Agent Zero, Deadpool and many more. From my discussions with some of my friends who were real avid fans of the X-Men comics, they have mentioned that the storyline is very different compared to the that of the comics.
I guess this argument holds true for the most recent movie, Watchmen, where the movie was created to reach audiences who were more unlikely not to have read the comics. The same goes for our Asian creators as well in the forms of Anime vs Manga where both have different views but of the same character.
My take as a viewer who never really followed the comics:
3.5 out of 5
Whats on my iPhone
I recently learned how to actually take screenshots of my iPhone screen and thanks to that, I can actually post up a post which has been lingering in my mind lately but I just was too darn lazy to actually capture screenies on my phone using my camera!
Anyway before I proceed with the actual post, here is a short tutotial on how to take a screenshot of your iPhone screen. Just click on the two buttons simultaneously as shown on the screenshot below and if your phone is not set to vibrate only, you will hear a shutter click sound (fake shutter of course) and your screen temporarily turning white and fading off.

So thanks to this new trick which I learned (by the way, the image above is definitely not a screenshot!), I happily took some screenshots of my phone.
First one up is the main screen of my phone.

Pretty much everything is standard here except for one application on the bottom right of the screen. To be honest it is not an application but it’s actually a link to Google’s To-Do list which is integrated in Gmail. What it is, is that its an online to-do list. I have always been trying to have a fully integrated to-do list and this seems to be a useful tool which I am currently experimenting.
Next on my iPhone screen would be my list of applications.

The two most commonly used application I use would be Facebook as well as Twitterfon. Totally ignore that myMaxis link there as it is totally USELESS, why? Because it just brings you to their site where you can “subscribe” to more of their “services” only to pay them more money. It is a total WASTE of time.
I like Facebook because I can actually keep up to date with it on the go.

As well as allow me to take photos with my phone and then upload it directly! Here is a picture of a blurry keyboard I tried taking with my phone.

It totally got blurry when I tried to take a snapshop of me taking a shot.
The other application is Twitterfon. I have become a Twitter addict lately hence the obsessive need to read tweets as well as tweet wherever I am.

If you do have a Twitter account, do add me in here.
Now on to the 3rd page on my phone. As you can see below, its mainly my games page with the except of Skype which is a newly added application.

Previously before this, I never had a Skype account so the only person I have on my Skype list is Ian. Do let me know what your Skype accounts are and I will gladly add you in ![]()
p.s. I am way too embarrassed to show my Skype list hahahaha
My favourite games would be Simcity and Bejeweled 2 followed by Hells Kitchen. I am already quite bored with the rest as well but I am still in love with Simcity, my city is still halfway built though but its generating enough cash on its own.
Last but not least, it’s my blog on Safari. I installed an iPhone plugin which automatically transform this blog into an iPhone friendly site. Check it out below.

And here is a shot of an individual post with an image in it.

Anyway, before signing off, I would like to ask the readers a simple question. What is on your iPhone as well? I would definitely love to find out what are some of the cool (and free!) applications about.
Wednesday Clicks
Update: Maxis in Malaysia has finally released their iPhone 3G plans but the pricing is just ultimately plain ridiculous. Note that the plans in the site (http://www.maxis.com.my/iphone/rateplan1.asp) does not include the 3G plan!
This week begins another busy week and I do really hope that I can find the time to post process photos. I definitely need to be more disciplined! Anyway here is a thought, its Wednesday and I have not forgotten my weekly Wednesday Clicks!
- After having been in the UK for 3 years, I sort of growned accustomed to their usual ritual of having sandwiches for lunch. The sad thing about Malaysia is that, we aren’t really much into the sandwich scene hence even the Subway sandwiches here are a tad boring. Don’t even get me started on O’Briens. Anyway, I found this site which scans sandwiches, yes, SCANS sandwiches. If you feel that you want to be hungry, head over to scanwiches.com now.
- Do men and women photographers take different photos? Well, I do shoot with women photographers and have shot with them. Personally in my experience, I would have to definitely say a huge YES! But do check out this article instead.
- Disasters with Photoshop? Look no further, check out this blog.
- Microsoft, the ever famous software giant has decided to manufacture laptop cooling pads?
Alright thats all for this week. The more I look at those scanwiches, the hungrier I get and I definitely need to sleep! Goodnight everyone!
Wednesday Clicks
This week on Wednesday Clicks I am proud to give you a new word to learn, “Boudoir”. What is it you ask me? Well it has something to do with this style of photography which I am unsure if many male photographers get to shoot. Most of the ones posted on the web were usually taken by famous female photographers. Anyway, just an interesting point to note. If you are still clueless about what “Boudoir” means, just click on the first link.
- Jasmine Star’s recent Boudoir shoot
- Last week both Scott Kelby and Matt Klowk…er…that Lightroom guy, anyway, they are part of this new online web resource/TV called D-Town TV where they had their premier episode last week. Check it out here.
- Check out this competition, it’s called “Name your dream assignment” which is organised by Lenovo and Microsoft. Huge prizes to be won.
- Learn how to shoot rock concerts here.
- Apple has released their new line of Macs on Tuesday, “new” Macs include the ever elusive Mac Mini, new iMacs, a bumped up Macbook Pro and the Mac Pro.
- PSP2 is underway? Images do look fantastic though.
That’s it for this week. Back to the rat race!
